A FRANKFORT BRAKEMAN IS KILLED
William O'Hara Dieds from Injuries Received at South Schenectady
William O'Hara of Frankfort, aged 23, died at the Amsterdam City Hospital shortly before noon yesterday from injuries received on the West Shore railroad at South Schenectady.
O'Hara was a brakeman in the employ of the West Shore. The accident which resulted in his death occurred about 9 o'clock while cars were being switched about in the South Schenectady yard. The unfortunate fellow was in the rear of the train, which was backing down upon him, when his left foot became caught in a frog. He was thrown backward and the train passed over him, as it was impossible to remove his foot in time to avert being crushed. As soon as the accident was discovered the injured man was removed to the station and taken to Amsterdam on the 9:56 train. Dr. E.E. Rulison, the company's surgeon, together with Dr. K.T. Kullson, and Dr. Pierce remove him to the hospital. Rev. ?? McIncrow who was present, administered the last rites of the Catholic Church, it being determined by the physicians that his life could not be saved. O'Hara was still conscious on his arrival at the hospital, but he died about a half hour after reaching there. The body was not mutilated. However, he was badly bruised from head to foot, the most serious injuries being about the abdomen. It is believed that his back was also broken. The deceased is survived by his widow and one child. He has two sisters residing in Utica. Mrs. O'Hara has no relatives in this country. The body will be taken to Frankfort for interment.
