| 1086 | On 22 July 1820, land belonging to Abner Reed was sold at public auction by Robert Shoemaker, then Sheriff of Herkimer County, under a writ of execution issued in a civil case. The judgment against Reed was in favor of Charles E. Dudley for $226.86. The sheriff sold two parcels of land in Glen's Purchase— one of 40 acres in Lot 12, and one of 50 acres (the west half of Lot 1 in Lot 21)— for $150. The sale was held at the tavern of Theophilus Morgan in Little Falls. Reed had insufficient goods and chattels, so his land was seized. The sheriff's deed was issued 23 October 1821 and recorded after the statutory redemption period expired. On 13 September 1825, Charles E. Dudley conveyed the same 50-acre parcel (the west half of Lot 1 in the subdivision of Lot 21 of Glen's Purchase) to Benjamin P. Churchill, Reuben Churchill, and Henry Churchill of Herkimer County. The deed identifies the land as "formerly in the possession of Abner Reed" and as "the same" conveyed to Dudley on 23 October 1821 by Robert Shoemaker, Sheriff of Herkimer County. The purchase price was $1,028.37. However, the 1825 deed was a mortgage: the Churchills promised to repay the sum in installments with 7% interest, and Dudley retained the right to sell the property if they defaulted. This transaction confirms the identity of the land lost by Abner Reed and illustrates the significant increase in its value after the forced sale. The mortgage was discharged in 1843 by Dudley's widow. On 13 September 1825, Charles E. Dudley sold approximately 40 acres of land in Great Lot 12 of Glen's Purchase, Fairfield, Herkimer County, New York, to John Nelson. This parcel had previously belonged to Abner Read and had been sold at sheriff's sale in 1820. Nelson agreed to pay $700 in seven annual installments of $100 each, with 7% annual interest, secured by a mortgage. The property was to revert to Dudley in the event of default. On 2 May 1831, Charles E. Dudley formally acknowledged receipt of the full amount of principal and interest owed. | Reed, Abner (I20)

| 1088 | On April 12, 1843, Venis Snyder and his wife Matilda sold 95 acres of farmland in Canajoharie, Montgomery County, New York, to James Alger for $1,450. The property was described in the deed as "the same lot of land conveyed to Venis Snyder by Ambrose Snyder" ten years earlier, but this 95-acre parcel represented only a portion of the original ~148¼ acres that Venis had acquired. The land was bounded by James Mark, Moses Lewis, widow Mary Hibbard, John H. Dunlap, Jacob Seeber, and the highway to Springfield Hollow. Although the deed language suggests a full transfer of the original parcel, the acreage confirms it was a partial sale. Venis had purchased the land in 1833 from Ambrose at what appears to have been a significantly discounted price (supporting a possible family relationship). This casts the later increase in value in a different light: it reflects not just market appreciation, but also a transition from a family-supported purchase to a full-market resale. | Snyder, Venus (I8978)
| 1089 | On April 4, 1846, Philip Snyder and his wife Nancy sold 107 acres of land in Canajoharie, Montgomery County, New York, to John Cooper of Exeter, Otsego County, for $2,000. The land was part of Great Lot No. 50 in Livingston's Patent and was bounded by properties formerly occupied by William, Isaac, and Samuel Allen and William Reeagles. The deed also included a 1-rod-wide strip along the eastern boundary, intended as a public road, originally provided for in the will of Henry Dygert Sr. | Snyder, Phillip (I9553)
| 1090 | On April 8, 1833, Ambrose Snyder Jr. and his wife Aseneth sold approximately 148¼ acres of farmland in Canajoharie, Montgomery County, New York, to Venis Snyder for $500. The property, located on Oak Hill, had previously belonged to Abraham Walradt and was bounded by the lands of David Brewster, Jacob Seeber, Moses Lewis, Agrippa Martin, and Mary Hibbard. The deed was acknowledged in November 1835 and recorded on November 17, 1835. Aseneth was examined separately and confirmed she signed the deed freely. | Snyder, Ambrose Jr (I9552)
| 1091 | On April 8, 1833, Ambrose Snyder Jr. and his wife Aseneth sold approximately 148¼ acres of farmland in Canajoharie, Montgomery County, New York, to Venis Snyder for $500. | Snyder, Venus (I8978)
| 1092 | On December 23, 1842, a public auction ordered by the New York Court of Chancery was held at the home of Ambrose Snyder in Canajoharie, Montgomery County. The sale involved mortgaged property from the case of The Central Bank vs. John J. Dillenback and was conducted by Master in Chancery Dewitt C. Bates. While Ambrose was not a party to the transaction, the choice of his home as the site for a court-ordered sale suggests he was regarded as a reputable and centrally located member of the community. | Snyder, Ambrose Jr (I9552)
| 1093 | On February 5, 1840, Venis Snyder purchased a small parcel of land in Canajoharie, Montgomery County, New York, from Ira G. Reynolds and his wife Catharine for $200. The land was part of Lot No. 56 in the Livingston-Keller patent and was bounded by the road from Springfield to Fort Plain and the road from Jacox's to Hall's. The deed was recorded on March 11, 1840. Although the parcel's size is not stated, the detailed metes-and-bounds description suggests it was a small tract. This purchase was separate from the larger Oak Hill property he had acquired from Ambrose Snyder in 1833. | Snyder, Venus (I8978)
| 1094 | On January 7, 1842, Venis Snyder and his wife Matilda sold a parcel of land in Canajoharie, Montgomery County, New York, to John P. Bowman for $200. The land was part of Lot No. 56 in the Livingston-Keller patent and had been purchased by Venis two years earlier from Ira G. Reynolds for the same amount. The property was bounded by roads leading from Springfield to Fort Plain and from Jacox's to Hall's. Although the deed was executed in January, it stipulated that possession would not be transferred until April 1, 1842. The identical price and timing suggest that Venis did not significantly alter or develop the property during the two years of ownership. | Snyder, Venus (I8978)
| 1095 | On March 17, 1829, Ambrose Snyder Jr. and Philip Snyder jointly purchased a 149-acre farm on Oak Hill in Canajoharie, Montgomery County, New York, from Alvan Stewart and his wife Kezia for $1,300. The land had formerly belonged to Abraham Walradt and was bounded by Jacob Seeber, David Brewster, Moses Lewis, Agrippa Martin, widow Mary Hibbard, and Craw Barrack. A small ¾-acre parcel on the northwest corner had previously been sold to Gilbert W. Helmer. The deed granted Ambrose and Philip equal ownership in fee simple. It was recorded on September 9, 1829, at 8 o'clock A.M. by Clerk A. J. Comus. | Snyder, Phillip (I9553)

A small ¾-acre parcel on the northwest corner had previously been sold to Gilbert W. Helmer. The deed granted Ambrose and Philip equal ownership in fee simple. It was recorded on September 9, 1829, at 8 o'clock A.M. by Clerk A. J. Comus. | Snyder, Ambrose Jr (I9552)
